I hope this email is catching you at the end of good week! Out here in Germany we have had some awesome stuff going down. Definitely been busy but it’s been awesome!
On Tuesday we had a meeting with T and President Fingerle to see when T should get baptized and we met for 3 and a half hours and it was intense. It started normal and we taught using the story of Lehi and Nephi in Helaman 5 and it was really good and then we starting talking business aka visa status and baptismal dates. Well, president has a policy for the required visa status to get baptized for safety reasons and T didn’t quite meet those requirements but we ended up all kneeling in prayer and president asked for inspiration to know what the Lord wanted to do and after the prayer he said that T should be baptized that Saturday. It was so cool to see how the Lord answered the prayer right then and there and T thought it was awesome! Anyway, we then realized that we had a lot to plan so we got started but the only problem is that T lives in the Tiergarten ward and we needed to plan it all through people that we’ve never had contact with. Now I’m not going to spend too much time on this because it’s not that important but the members in Tiergarten were not happy to hear about a baptism that was such short notice. I mean they said hey that’s great but it’s impossible to plan and we can’t do it. Anyways, we went forward with faith and it was stressful but it worked out! We ended up having the baptism on Sunday so they could at least announce it but that meant we did splits with the zone leaders for church so Elder Cakir could translate. So Sunday after church we went to a church building in Dahlem and got everything ready and then T showed up with his wife and he looked so happy! He showed up in a white shirt and brown sweater and he looked great! So we set everything up and tons of people came! There were tons of Iranians there and even members from Tiergarten and it was such a special service. Elder Cakir baptized T in Turkish and I even got to stumble through a talk in Turkish! T just kept telling us how grateful he was and he was on cloud nine! I feel really really blessed that I got to whiteness this wonderful day in T’s life.
Today is pday and we bought a deep frier and we managed to eat 2.5 kilos of potatoes in about an hour with two other elders and it is amazing. It’s safe to say that we are all severely addicted but since we have the church addiction recovery videos I think we’ll make it through.
Hope everything is going well. I love you and will talk to you next week!
