Week 36: He is the Gift

Helloooooooo!!!!!!! *Grinch voice
Oh boy this week was just awesome! Some of the short highlights would first and foremost be Thanksgiving!! It was so amazing. The senior missionary couple here in Hamburg made dinner for the whole Hamburg district and it was so amazing! It tasted just like it did at home and the best part was the sweet potatoes…they were ‘absolut fantastisch’! We also got a young American couple in the ward and they are awesome! They remind me a ton of Kenna and Leland!
The rest of the week goes as follows:
On Tuesday we went to visit a less active named Peace, and when we got there with the Nuttals (missionary couple) we met Arnold who is the non member husband of Peace. We had been trying to come in contact with him for the last transfer and a half because he was, at one point, investigating the church but then he just kind of disappeared. Anyway, we talked with him and he told us that he wants to be a better father and he knows that the church will help him to do that. We set up an appointment with him for this Saturday!
Right after that we decided to go by some inactive members and on the way one of the people that we talked to said he didn’t have time, but he set up an appt for later that week! When we met with him we found out that he is really prepared. Both of his parents have just died and he has had a very hard life including the trial of having cancer. He grew up in the DDR Neubrandenburg and said that because of that, he had never really known in the past about God but because of all the things that he has been going through he said that he started to pray and he has started to develop faith. We asked him why he wanted to meet with us and he said that he wanted to come closer to Jesus Christ and we told him that is exactly why we are here. We also told him the steps to come closer to Christ and he is very excited to learn more! His name is Mitja and he is a great guy!
On Sunday we also had a cool experience. We got invited to celebrate the first advent with a member but they wanted to pray and pick out a street for us to go tracting before we came, so we went on our way and we hadn’t found anyone too interested until the last person we talked to. We went up to him and asked him what Jesus Christ means to him. He said that he only wants to believe in God because when he grew up in Iran he had to be muslim or else he would get killed so now for some reason he only wants to believe in God and no one else which isn’t the worst thing in the world, but after we bore some burning testimony of Christ and who He is, he said that he wanted to meet and learn more! His name is Said (pronounced sa eed) and we will be meeting with him on Saturday!
Now this week was the last week for my good old companion Elder Hellander and we really put the pedal to the metal( like we always do) and it was just a really great week!
As to my new companion, I got the call on Friday night that I will be training this transfer. I go to pick up the new missionary on Thursday and then I will know who he is! I am really excited for the opportunity that I have to train, and I know that I’m going to learn a lot. I am a little nervous to see what happens but I have faith that it will be ok with the Lord’s help! And as the Germans would say ‘Ich kriege es schon gebacken’  (*I got this!)  fyi the direct translation is ‘I get it already baked’ incase you are wondering!
Well I love you all so much and I hope that you are all having the best time and that you all had the best Thanksgiving! I am so thankful for the Savior Jesus Christ and all that He did for the world! Let us show our gratitude to Him this Christmas season by serving Him and inviting people to learn more about Him. I’m sure that you have heard but the church released a video called ‘He is the gift’ and it’s awesome! share it everyone!
love you all!
